Baseline’s chrome comes in two parts that work together but can be used independently:
- The icon rail — a fixed 76px strip on the left edge (a bottom tab bar on mobile) with icon shortcuts, search, and cart.
- The top bar — a status ticker row plus a brand row with your wordmark, navigation, a call-to-action button, and a cart button.
Both live in the Baseline header area of the editor. Remove or hide the rail and the page reflows automatically to full width.
The status ticker
The top row’s Status field is Baseline’s voice: batch releases, test results, restock notes. Next to it, the Utility menu renders small links (shipping, lab results, account joins automatically when customer accounts are on).
Navigation, mega menu, and promo
The brand row renders your assigned Menu; nested items open a full-width mega panel with link columns. The Mega menu settings add a promo card to every panel — write it yourself, or pick a Feature product or Feature collection to fill it automatically. The same card appears in the mobile menu.
Cart access
Shoppers can open the cart from two places: the rail’s cart icon, and the top bar’s cart button with its count badge (the Show cart button setting, on by default). Keep the top bar button on if you ever hide the rail — otherwise the store has no cart trigger.
Rail icons
Each rail item is a block: pick a built-in icon or upload your own (a light-colored SVG or transparent PNG shows best on the dark rail), set the label and link. On mobile the rail becomes a bottom tab bar with the same items plus search and cart.
